STORY DISPATCH#08

What happens on this route?

A freely offered cup of coffee teaches Cappy how Oman welcomes a guest. From there, a sweet-smelling frankincense tree, a hand-built dhow, an irrigation channel, a mountain pool, a vast canyon, old forts, nesting turtles, and a rare desert antelope show him different kinds of care. The country’s driest scenic route leads not to another mistake but to a quiet wildlife encounter the easy road could never provide.

Traditional Omani aflaj carry water from underground sources or springs using gravity, and thousands of these irrigation systems remain in use.
