Accessibility target
WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the engineering and test target for Cappy West. That target guides implementation and evaluation; it is not, by itself, a certification of legal compliance or a promise that every experience works equally for every visitor and assistive technology.
The final accessibility audit was completed on 2026-09-05 for exact release commit 4fc3a8632a3c743e9ee581dd1f0b665ffbc7ed10. Automated browser evidence covers all 40 public routes and all five games in desktop and touch-enabled Chromium, with responsive widths from 320 through 1440 CSS pixels, and engine checks in Firefox and WebKit. Physical Safari 27 checks on macOS 27 cover navigation, keyboard use, enlarged text, every game, and retailer handoff. Native VoiceOver 10 spot checks cover the homepage and global navigation, the Books index, the Explore index and Brazil country guide, all five game shells, the Terms, Privacy, and Accessibility pages, and the custom 404. The VoiceOver session also checks skip-link, heading, landmark, link, form-control, game-feedback, and next-action behavior.
The reviewed surfaces contain no form, account, user upload, recorded audio, or video. Text alternatives, programmatic names, live feedback, and decorative-image treatment were evaluated where applicable.
Methods and results
Automated tools were the Node.js 26.4.0 test runner, TypeScript 5.9.3, oxlint 1.80.0, custom source, markup, policy, route, contrast, network, reflow, and artifact validators, and Playwright 1.62.1 with Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit. Manual checks covered keyboard operation, focus order, focus visibility, headings, landmarks, labels, text alternatives, reduced motion, touch targets, 200-percent text enlargement, 320-pixel reflow, no-JavaScript behavior, game interaction, retailer handoff, physical Safari, and native VoiceOver.
The tested build passed its automated and manual checks for keyboard operation, visible focus, logical focus order, headings and landmarks, programmatic names, text alternatives, ordinary-text contrast, 200-percent text enlargement, 320-pixel reflow, reduced motion, pointer and keyboard alternatives, touch targets, locally stored progress, and status feedback. Forms, form submission, recorded audio, video, and captions are not applicable because the release contains none of those surfaces.
Conformance status
The recorded results support the WCAG 2.2 Level AA engineering target within the technologies, routes, viewports, and methods described above. They do not establish a universal accessibility result, legal conclusion, or performance guarantee outside that tested scope.
Known limitations
Affected routes and controls: all 40 Cappy West routes and controls when used with a screen reader, browser, or operating system outside the tested combinations. Severity: Low testing-coverage risk; no barrier was identified on the tested paths. Workaround: use the tested Safari 27 and VoiceOver 10 combination or standard keyboard operation, and report any barrier by email or postal mail. Owner: Kerry Kier. Remediation status: ongoing compatibility monitoring with a target review date of 2027-03-05, or earlier after a reported barrier or material change.
Affected controls: the 52 labeled retailer links after activation and the external retailer pages they open. Severity: Medium external-service risk because Cappy West cannot correct a retailer's website. Workaround: return to Cappy West and choose another listed retailer, or contact the retailer for help with its service. Owner: Kerry Kier owns Cappy West link labels and destination monitoring; each retailer owns its external page. Remediation status: Cappy West links and labels passed the release checks, with destination and disclosure review targeted again by 2027-03-05 or earlier after a reported barrier or destination change.
